Awarded to an individual, company, or group for the development and execution of successful programs, projects, or ideas that support the development and advancement of industry careers, aim to address labor shortages, and expand the number of qualified workers in the industry.
Community Impact
Awarded to an individual or group for the development, implementation and/or execution of successful programs, projects, events, or ideas that support community awareness, appreciation, and/or involvement of the local homebuilding industry.
Emerging Advocate
Recognizes the next generation of housing leaders—young professionals, students, recent graduates, and newcomers to the industry—who are making a significant impact in housing advocacy and community development. This award is dedicated to those individuals who are passionate about shaping the future of housing and are committed to championing responsible growth and innovative solutions within their communities.
YIMBY “Yes in My Backyard”
Honors local governments and communities that demonstrate outstanding support for the home-building industry by fostering strong partnerships, streamlining operations, and creating an environment where responsible development can thrive. This award recognizes municipalities and leaders who understand the critical role housing plays in building vibrant, sustainable communities and actively work to make the development and construction process efficient and collaborative. This may be awarded in tiers of small, medium, and large municipalities based on population if the nomination pool allows.
Champion of Housing
Presented to a legislator or public official who has demonstrated exemplary service for the enhancement of the building industry in Michigan.
Coalition of the Year: Better Together, Build Together
Honors a partnership of organizations, businesses, and stakeholders that have come together to advance the housing industry. This award recognizes exceptional collaboration in addressing key industry challenges resulting in meaningful, impactful solutions. These coalitions have strengthened the housing industry by uniting their expertise and efforts.
Outstanding Local HBA
Honors one local HBA and their EO that has demonstrated exceptional leadership in housing advocacy, community relations, and membership development. This award recognizes an HBA that goes above and beyond to promote responsible housing policies, engage in meaningful community initiatives, and foster growth within its membership.
Housing Advocate of the Year
Honors an individual or group who has demonstrated leadership and competence in efforts to promote and advocate for the homebuilding and remodeling industry. This nominee will possess the ability to empower or inspire others to engage in the industry.
Lifetime Achievement
Recognizes an HBAM member who has made significant long-term contributions to the HBAM, the building industry, and the community. We invite you to nominate a member that you believe is deserving of this special honor.
